Don’t forget to save one for your baby’s scrapbook, or frame an announcement for the nursery.
We’ve put a sweet spin on the classic Thank You cards or Party Favours with this darling DIY that’s completely customisable! Want ’em in a jiffy? Order the prints on our app, and your prints will be delivered straight to your door so you can get right to crafting!
Want to take better photos with your mobile? Following a few simple rules can make a big difference.
Make the gift-giving part of the party more personal—and practical. Take a photo of each child presenting a gift and a photo of the birthday boy or girl opening it. You’ll create a visual record of who gave what, which is a huge help when it’s time to write thank-you notes.
Gifts from the kitchen are heart-warming. Not only do you get to taste your friends’ wonderful delights, you get their recipes, too. Whether you’re part of a club, a school, or a group of friends, creating a Christmas Recipe Book is a beautiful way to collect and remember each year’s event. You can even sell the books for fund raising. And with our new Magic Layout tools, it’s easier than ever before.
Bonus Tip: Turn our stationery photo cards into beautiful recipes cards, with or without photos, to include when giving baked goods or other kitchen treats.
Why shoot black and white?
Think of Ansel Adams’ majestic black and white landscapes, and you can appreciate the power that’s possible when you leave colour behind. Use black and white (or monochrome, as it’s also called) techniques to heighten drama and emotion in your photos, to give pictures a timeless quality
Contrast-the difference between the light and dark areas in a photo-is an essential part of black and white photography. There are three levels of contrast that you can experiment with when you shoot:
High contrast, which means striking white and black tones, heightens tension and adds drama to photos.
Normal contrast provides the most “realistic” image, with a balanced range of black, grey to white tones.
Low contrast keeps tones mostly in the mid-range, so there are lots of greys.
Add drama and emotion to portraits
Emotional occasions, such as weddings or tender childhood moments are ideal opportunities to shoot black and white. And don’t forget group shots-black and white shots mean that clashing clothing isn’t a problem.
Black and white shot ideas
Many artists use black and white photography because it helps viewers focus on the subject and composition without the distraction of colour. Try shooting interesting patterns, textures or lines in nature. Details that are barely noticeable in colour become more prominent and poetic. Baby pictures, wedding photos, family portraits, whether candid or posed, gain a classic quality when shot in black and white. From the mountains to your own garden, landscape shots look magnificent in black and white. Snapfish also allows you to convert photos to black & and white. Go to your Snapfish photo library, click edit & organise, then fix & enhance. Select the images you want to modify and then apply black and white tint available under the fun tab.
Stylish output for your black and white photos
Make sure all the Dads in your life have prints of themselves with their kids as well as treasured doodles. Highlight favourites in a calendar that starts… in June, of course! Or, get creative and make your own growth chart, with Dad as the marker. Collect the photos in a handy lay flat photo book and see what a difference a few months really make.
If Dad travels for work, keep him connected with photos and keepsakes that go anywhere. Put a candid shot on a key ring. Or, surprise dad with a magic mug or travel mug which features a montage of favourite photos and keys art scans. Just capture a fun shot of everyday life, like picking them up from school, or snap a special moment, like a football match or school play. Fill the mug with some new socks or some chocolates to make him smile!
Don’t forget to share all these photos with him using the Snapfish Mobile app so Dad can access these treasured moments 24/7 wherever he is.
Does dad have a weakness for radio control cars? Or Scottish golf courses? Create a one-of-a-kind gift with photos of his favourite memorabilia or activities. Use pictures you have, or scan his collectables. Make a collage, for home or work, that inspire him all year long. This would look great as a collage photo block or desk calendar on his desk
Create a once-in-a-life time gift with photos of dad that span the generations. Create a photo book of dad enjoying his favourite hobby with his grandfather, father, and now his own kids. Or put together a collage poster of all of his favourite people, throughout the years and frame them for his office.
